A Retirement Community is a multi-residence housing community intended for the elderly. The usual pattern is that each individual or couple in the home has an apartment-style room or suite of rooms. Additional services are provided within the building. Often this includes amenities such as meals, gatherings, recreation, and some form of health maintenance, like a fitness center or health club. The level of programs varies enormously.

Retirement Living options

Accommodation in a Retirement Community can be paid for on a rental basis, like an apartment, or can be purchased in perpetuity on the same basis as a condominium. Costs can range as low as $1,000 per month to as high as $3,500 per month, depending on location of the room and/or size of the apartment.
